The College Women’s Club of Montclair (CWCM) is a 501c3 nonprofit composed of women with post-secondary education who believe strongly in the advancement of women through education and advocacy. We work to promote educational opportunities for women, provide financial aid to high school seniors pursuing higher education, and gather for social events.

BECOME A MEMBER

Membership is open to anyone holding an associate or equivalent (such as RN), bachelor’s, or higher degree or certification from an accredited college, university, or other post-secondary institution.

In principle and practice, CWCM values and seeks a diverse membership. There shall be no barriers to full participation on the basis of gender, race, creed, age, sexual orientation, national origin, disability or class.

Download the CWCM Membership Application here to become a member or contact collegewomensclubmontclair@gmail.com for more information.

MEMBER MEETINGS

Member Meetings are gatherings held in September, January, and June. Dates and times are emailed to general membership in advance of each event.

OPEN EVENTS

Regular programs are open to the public and held approximately once a month between October and May at the First Lutheran Church (153 Park Street, Montclair, NJ). Each program features coffee and bagels followed by a speaker who brings timely information on topics that inform and provoke discussion. Details about current Member Meetings and Open Programs appear on our Activities page, in the Montclair Local, and the Montclair Patch.

SOCIAL EVENTS

CWCM hosts some special interest groups meeting in people’s homes, depending on the interests of the members – a literature group meets to discuss a book each month, a dining out group biannually enjoys eating at local restaurants. Depending on member interests, new groups may be created any given year. We are considering starting a bridge group, a knitting group. Please visit our Activities page for more information.

FINANCIAL AWARDS

The Awards Committee processes the scholarship award applications and interviews applications for our college awards. Click here to learn more about CWCM’s scholarships.

Our major fundraising activity for scholarships is CWCM’s SEMI-ANNUAL BOOK, MOVIE & MUSIC SALE. Many members and non-members work on receiving, sorting, and pricing the donated books all year long. We encourage each member to contribute time to staffing each sale.
